Interference and ACT-R: New evidence from the fan effect
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present data demonstrating that interference plays a role in the fan effect. We also show that this cannot be accounted for using ACT-R. An ACT-R model is fit to the data and we discuss options for altering the model to account for the data.

The Fan Effect: New Results and New Theories
The fan effect (Anderson, 1974) has been attributed to interference among competing associations to a concept. Recently, it has been suggested that such effects might be due to multiple mental models (Radvansky, Spieler, & Zacks, 1993) or suppression of concepts (Anderson & Spellman, 1995; Conway & Engle, 1994). We show that the ACT-R (Adaptive Control of Thought-Rational) theory, which embodie...
متن کامل“Triple M†Effect: A Proposed Mechanism to Explain Increased Dental Amalgam Microleakage after Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Radiation
A large body of evidence now indicates that the amount of mercury released from dental amalgam fillings can be significantly accelerated by exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMFs) such as common mobile phones and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Studies performed on the increased microleakage of dental amalgam restorations after exposure to RF-EMFs have further supported th...

In order to determine the responses of morphological characteristics, yield and yield components of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) to plant density and weed interference duration, a factorial experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block design with 3 replications at the Rice Research Institute of Iran (RRII) in Rasht, in the 2008 growing season. The factors comprised plant density a...
